Ready for anything
Creating an adaptable product is integral to everything we do. At Duolink Go, we wanted to create a product that was ready to provide you music whenever you needed it. After conducting countless experiments, researching new methods, fine tuning sounds etc. we have finally created a product that can keep up with your lifestyle by providing you nonstop music every step of the way. The functions and design of the product could be attributed to Vasili Yang, the product engineer of Duolink. Let’s find out our team came up with the idea of the Duolink and how their dreams come true.
Where did you first get the idea of Duolink? What has been inspired you to start this idea? The concept of the Duolink stemmed from the various issues that occur with current music devices. For example, many of our team members wasted so much time switching between speakers and earbuds as well as spending tons of money on these devices. We wanted to simplify music listening so that you could have one device that can be used for any situation to provide you nonstop music. We agreed that our device must be multi-tasking and encompass all the functions you would need for any occasion.
How did you come up with the design of the Duolink?
The design is essential to the functionality of the Duolink, we just came up with a smart way to put them together. The speaker could be used as a charging case for the earbuds and transfer music simultaneously when you put earbuds into it. We made dual speakers help you share music when you want to be sociable, and swap to the earbuds for personal jams. The design of Duolink exemplifies the Chinese yin and yang which reflects a balance between our solitary and sociable lifestyles.
What technical challenges do you have for the Duolink?
The most challenging part technically would be the Auto Switch. Thinking of a way to transfer music seamlessly from speakers to earbuds was mentally draining and time-consuming since the sound varies a lot in each mode. In order to ensure the best listening experience, we had to tune the sound in three devices for each unique experience. Besides this challenge, creating a lightweight Duolink was another difficult feat. We wanted this 3-in-1 music player to be super portable so you can always take it anywhere you want without any problems.
How did you finally figure out a way to control the weight to 212 grams?
What techniques do you use?
Most audio companies will place a heavy piece of metal into the speakers to counter the power that comes from the audio driver. By doing this, your speaker is stabilized when you play those heavy bass songs, yet it greatly increases the weight of the product. To ensure a lighter product, we applied an extremely lightweight driver on the Duolink and covered the outside with silicone. Silicone endures more friction when you place it on the table compared to other materials. It also stabilizes the Duolink and absorbs extra sound power from the driver. Additionally, an ultra-thin cloth was added to cover the front side of the Duolink to not weigh the product down.
Why did you pick the blue color for the Duolink?
When choosing a colorway for the Duolink we thought carefully which color would be suitable for our product and to represent our team as a whole. We decided that the Pantone color of the year 2020, Classic Blue, would be a perfect color for the launch of the Duolink. Classic blue is trendy, fashion-forward, and has elegance derived from its simplicity. It is a color that will be always relevant and its neutral appearance allows it to resonate well with both male and female users. We feel this color symbolizes the perseverance of our team in overcoming all the obstacles in the year 2020.
